FSX CLS DC-10 repaint: Lufthansa DC-10-30 D-ADCO (c. 1993)

Repaint of a DC-10-30 in Lufthansa's 1988 livery for the payware CLS DC-10 HD. This was tested in FSX, but it should work in Prepar3D v1-3 (and v4-5 ports of this add-on).

Lufthansa entered the widebody market of the 1970s with the introduction of the Boeing 747 in 1970. This was followed by the McDonnell Douglas DC-10 in 1973 and Airbus A300 in 1976. Lufthansa utilized the types on their transatlantic, African, and far eastern network to replace older 707s that were used on such routes the previous decade. These early widebodies were configured with a three-crew cockpit that included a flight engineer who was tasked with monitoring aircraft systems while the pilots took care of all the flying. With the introduction of glass cockpits in the 1980's, the DC-10 was slowly being deemed obsolete by the introduction of newer aircraft of the time like the 747-400 and 767.

This repaint depicts D-ADCO in its condition circa 1993. It was delivered to the airline in February 1974 and christened "Frankfurt." From 1985 to the early-1990s, it shared the name with a 747-200, D-ABYZ, before being repainted in Lufthansa's 1988 livery and left unnamed during its final years with the airline. It was converted to freighter configuration upon exiting Lufthansa's fleet in December 1995 and flew with Gemini Air Cargo until its retirement in 2008.
